When the house you work on is home to significant and constant thinking, the designer’s mission becomes not visual stimulation, but a creating a multi-sensorial, dynamic and stimulating environment that facilitates the creation of new ideas and the birth and re-orientation of perspectives, while simultaneously comforting the exhausted mind.
This colorful project in the heart of Houston was a challenge of not only design, but ideology. Every color and every piece, be them functional or highly decorative, has a purpose. The living room was re-designed and re-invented, ironic to its eponymous legacy, to be a space for more than living. Comfort and beauty are intertwined, and the pieces are arranged symmetrical to central mirrored walls – which creates the illusion of colliding worlds.
For the dining room, eclecticism had to be the word of the day – for the family inhabiting this home is diverse in cognition and personality, allowing for a plethora of color both within people, and all around them. The bedroom was created to be a place of intellectual and physical rest, in spite of its apparently energetic chromatic scheme. A variety of KGA Original pieces were used all around the house, with a strong focus on pillows, cushions, and soft elements in general.
All in all, the Living With Collections project is simultaneously a testament to intellect and a homage to interior energies. Feeling at home never felt more meditative!
